Awful Breath- H E L P

My little chi's breath has been awful this past week. I brushed her teeth and it smells just horrible. She eats CHIHUAHUA FORMULA I am not sure what to do. Are you suppose to brush their teeth daily, weekly? Do any breath treats REALLY help? Thanks in advance

How old is she? Cause i remember when my chi was loosing his teeth his breath was YUCKY, but as soon as he was finished and his other ones grew in it was much much better. The vet gave me some puppy mouth wash which works wonders, and she told me to do it everyday so nothing builds up.
