Is it normal for..

whasmack Oct 09, 2003 12:52 PM

I got my corn snake about a week ago, and since then, all it has done it curled up in it's hidding spot and does not move. It will not move until I take it out of the cage and handle it. Is it normal for the snake just to stay curled up 24 hrs a day for days on end in the same spot?

It is there 24 hours a day? Arriving in a new enviornment is very stressful. It is probably recovering and is only comfortable roaming at night when there are no other movements in the room. Some corns can be more "secretive" than others and they would be especially moreso after a recent relocation. Most likely he comes out at night and when he becomes more comfortable he'll come out more often. I wouldn't handle him too much in this transition time. Other possibilities are that your temps are too low, or it may be going into shed, those can also cause a corn to be inactive.

What are the temps in your cage?Have you given it a few days to adjust?Does it have a full belly? Is it getting ready to shed?....Paul.
