Newbie needs help with feeding

rubyk Feb 27, 2005 04:26 PM

Hi, Today I picked up my new 9 week old Chihuahua. It is now 5 P.M.I got home with her at 1 P.M. and she still has not ate any of her food yet or gone potty. I have her on the same puppy food they say she was on and was just wondering if this was normal on her first day not to eat for me or potty yet. Loves to be held and so loving a puppy! Im calling the vet tomorrow so he can see her. She did come with papers that show she had her first set of shots and wormed.Any help here would be great, just worried about the above problems.
Thank you in advance, Sheryl

Some of these actions you describe are normal due to new surroundings and being away from litter mates and mommie. Your lil puppy is probably scared and nervous Taking your puppy to the vet for a check up is a good idea. Continue to luv and cuddle your puppy and good luck Write back to let us know more about your puppy and send a picture too!

I'm a new puppy mom too. Trust me, the not eating and such is very normal. My Angel didn't eat for 2 days and is now eating normally. I'm sure your baby will be eating normally very soon.

Hi Sheryl,
I remember when I brought my Shih Tzu home at ten weeks of age and she more or less did the same thing. Your little one is in new surroundings and perhaps a little nervous with her change in scenery. I'm a little late posting here so I hope she's settled in a bit and eating now. Hope you'll have some pictures to share with the folks soon.

Hey - I had the same problem when I first got my Chi. I have had him since the day after Christmas, and he turns 5 months old next week

My pup didn't eat well for at least 3 days after I got him, he was really shaky and scared the whole time.....

Now he's nuts But he's my angel and little baby
