Ok I know she is a German Shepherd and this was to be expected, but we were hoping she would lack the constant barking trait that shepherds tend to have. Well she doesn't. If it were only while she was in her crate then I could at least understand why she is doing it and we could fix it from there, but now it seems she is just barking for attention. And we know we shouldn't pay attention to her while she is barking, because that just teaches her to bark for attention, but the more we ignore her, the more she barks. She is 4 months old btw. If I stand up and turn my back to her, she just barks more. She knows how to "speak" on command, so we are trying to teach her "no speak". We figured giving it a command would help her not do it, but that didn't work. We're tried hushing her, we tried saying "Quiet" (she knows what that means), I've tried grabbing her and securely holding her until she calms down, which she does, but as soon as I let her go, she starts barking again. But we think she thinks us grabbing her is a game. Like she is trying to get away from us. And we know thats not the right way to do it because we don't want her to think it's a game. I would like to avoid using a training collar if possible. I wanted to see if anyone had any advise before we went out and bought the collar. Please help anyone! Thank you in advance!
