What brand and type of dog food do you feed your dachshund? Why do you feed that brand? How long have you fed that brand(type)? What do you pay for the dog food? What size bag? Can?
I feed Hills Prescription Diet K/D because it was recommended by our Vet who happens to be the only one around that sells it. I pay $60 for 40 lbs.

I feed my dogs (2 doxies, 1 corgi mix) the Petsmart Authority brand. The ingredients read very well, no by-products, etc. I buy the 40 lb bag for like $18. I store it in an airtight garbage can in the garage and bring in smaller amounts in a tupperware container in the pantry. It's worked very well for us. One of my dachshunds, Cooper, used to have a very sensitive stomach, and he tolerates this food very well.

P.S. The food you are feeding sounds like a prescription diet. Is your vet addressing a medical issue with the food?
It is Prescription Diet. About 4 years ago after the vet ran a scheduled test he recommended it. I think it was really his way to sell his food. He has me pegged as a sucker when it comes to my dogs.

i just wanted to let you know the kind of dog food we buy is Imas weight control, in the blue bag. pay about 18-25 dollars 40lbs. bag. vet recomended this because our male is over weight and we didn't want the female to get over weight. seems to work pretty well. also i had posted a question awhile back, about doxie hair getting pretty thin on her chest,tummy,behind ears. did a thiroid test all is normal. does anyone have any answers on how to stop this, or slow it down? vet recomended giving her melintonin, a natural sleep aid for humans.
