We love Rotties here
But like any other of the 'guard' breeds, they have to be bred, AND raised right. .you can't correct a genetic bad temperament, but you can curb it a bit. . some dogs are just wired wrong. .but mostly, it's idiot owners/parents who shouldn't own a stuffed rat let alone a dog this size

Treasure the past, don't mourn it.
A balanced dog has a title on both ends.

Not all are protective. You need to be careful to not train them to be AT ALL aggressive. Any trained dog of many breeds can help in police work. Few pets catch or SHOULD catch criminals. THeir job is to bark and warn you someone is around, then its up to you.

My rescue contact for Shiba Inu's was also involved in Rottie rescue and bred Rottweiler's and Shiba's before her death. I met a few of her Rotties while picking up my Shiba's...they were very well behaved dogs. One Rottie was legendary in the show ring...she said only happy dogs ever left her kennels...how right she was!
