Adolescent Behavior?

I have a 6mo old female border collie and she "talks back". When I tell her no, she barks at me and swats her paws at me. She does not do this to my husband. I read that this is a phase that they go through. How long does it last? I don't want her to bite me or someone else when she is told no or down.

This sounds like a training problem rather than a dog temperament problem. I hope you're in a class with her. Lingering over the "no" will cause this to happen. "No" needs to switch instantly into a desired behavior for which you can praise and reward the dog. 80% of that is training the person as to how to handle the dog. Time to get into class!
