This guy is a 2002 male that was tricky to get on rodents that has become a great eater and will even take one from my hand.

How the heck are you doing??? Was it pulled or strained?

Well I have had one of the worst weeks. Out of five that never ate, three died after force feeding them week. And, the one that I knew would not make it b/c it was too lethargic and thin is looking good. The Calligasters are doing well...
Later dude,

Not sure...either way i cant fully extend it. It probably didn't help that I was jumping off the hood of brandon's car last night while herping for frogs. One of my hogs is still eating anything I put in there, but the other still refuses to eat. I picked 2 nonfeeders lol...lucky me. I am still trying though. I will assist feed this week. Take it easy. BTW,have you talked to scott since last night? Andy

Clint - so what was your trick for converting your e. hog to rodents ?

Find recently killed dor toads that are in exceptional shape and rub the pink ove the toad. Use tweezers at all times when holding the pink. Hogs use their nose to decide whether it's a worth while meal, so limiting smells helps. You may have to blend the toads using a blender with just a base of filtered water. Then dip the pink in the toad mixture. Put a live toad in the hogs cage. When the hog starts for it, remove the live toad and place the scented pink and turn out all lights and leave the room for at least 3 hours. It takes a ton of experience, patience, willingness to release the hog when things do not work out. E. Hogs are one of the more difficult snakes to keep in captivity, much less switch to rodents. Oh yeah, make sure the hog uses its hide box, and does not run the cage. If they are not happy in captivity, it is best to just return hogs to where they came.

Good luck and always remember the animal.

The thing that got mine to eat, was squeezeing the gland on the toads back to get the slime out.
Then, apply that to a pinkie like Katchup to a hot dog.
Worked for me.
That and the snake was caught and given to me as a hatchling.
So, I now have had it eaeing rodents and rabbit pups/pinkies for 3 years.

What I am wondering is, are rabbits a leaner diet than the rodents for the snake? I have a supplier lined up for frozen rabbit and was thinking of getting the Hog on them full-time.

Comments allways welcome. Thanks
