My New Baby!

I got very lucky, and I managed to find myself a beautiful, and very friendly Pit Bull puppy last night. (I have yet to name her) And our adventures have already begun...

I took her to PetCo to find her a sweater to wear (I live in WI and its 74568476 below zero outside right now) As I stopped to look for her size, my new puppy decides to take a massive dump in the cart! I look back and see it...and I just *had* to laugh. It was funny..the people at PetCo were very cool about it, and they gave me another cart.

I also took her out to meet some new people and she got the chance to interact with another dog yesterday. A ten year old Cockapoo named Rusty. Not only did she barge right in and eat Rusty's food all up, she drank his water, took his treats, and started jumping on him to get him to play with her. When he wouldn't she barked at him! (Tail wagging the whole time!)

She has a playdate today with a friend of mine who owns a Pit and an AmStaff. We're gonna see how they all get along.

I just wanted to post about her! Here is a pic....(I don't have any photo editing software, so the pic is big and needs to be rotated, but you can still see her)

Also, if anyone has any pointers on getting a puppy to go potty outside when it's super cold, I'd really appreciate it. She just stands there and shivers, although this morning she did go, but it took awhile.

She's adorable! I'm happy that you found a young girl..

I think the only thing you can really do to encourage her to go is give her a cue word or phrase like "potty!" or I just use "hurry up!" (in a happy tone, not an impatient one! ).. Then you see her getting ready to, say her cue word, and then praise like crazy and if she doesn't like the cold get her back inside asap..

I'm in Ontario and we've got -30*C weather here usually about 2 months of the year, and it's around -10 the rest of the winter.. Luckily for me though my dog's got a GSD's thick coat and he just loves the snow..

Be very, very careful about letting her take food, toys, and treats from other dogs. If she gets it into her head that it's okay she may become overly dominant. I love pits, they're great, but they will get aggressive with other dogs if you let them think that it's okay when they're puppies.. As cute as it is, try not to let her do that..

It's great that you're getting her well socialized already though, that will go such a long way

I'm so happy for you, pit puppies are just so adorable!
