Help! My Puppy Ate A Plastic Bag!

littleangel77007 Mar 24, 2005 09:46 AM

I have a 4 1/2 month old Border Collie Mix. When I got up and came downstairs this morning, I found her sitting in her crate with pieces of a Ziploc sandwich bag all around her. I have no idea where she got the bag. We keep a box of Ziplocs on top of her crate(which is covered by a blanket) so they're handy to grab when we take her out for a walk. The only thing I can figure is maybe one of the cats got up there and pulled one out to play with it and dropped it within reach of the dog. Anyway, regardless of how she got it, she tore it into tiny pieces. I gathered all the pieces I could find to see if I could figure out if she ate any, and if so, how much. It seems she ate a corner where the two locking sides come together, as well as about 2/3 of one side of the bag. How bad is this? I don't know what to do. Please Help!

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you pup ate part of a plastic bag. Pups do have a way of finding the wrong things to eat. I think your best bet would be to contact your vet and see what he/she suggests. It may very well pass without any problem but I would definately check with the vet and not wait. Let us know how the pup is doing.
