Whoa....gassy GSD!!!! lol

Hey guys....it's been a while since I've been on here. My babies are growing up way too fast. My female has gotten much better with her temperment prob, but God help anyone who were too walk up into my yard if she happened to be outside alone.
If she knows you, your ok, but if not watch out. They only go out for potty breaks and to be excercised usually, so we havent't had any problems. My male is starting to get a little more protective, but for the most part he is a big teddy bear. What a great temperment!!!!! His personality is as beautiful as he is. I could not ask for anything more. I can honostly say he is perfect in just about every way, but man, he can clear a room when he passes gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not joking, it's awful!!!! I would try changing his food (Eukanuba), but my female eats the same thing and I never noticed her passing gas, though I know she does. We also put a touch of olive oil in their food for their coat and they take a supplement every day called GF 600. It stinks like fish, but our vet says it's really good for the dogs cartiledge among other things. We put them on it because last Oct., Cai developed a slight limp. We has all kinds of X-rays done and decided to try this supplement before we had an MRI ran. The X-rays showed nothing wronge. After a couple of weeks on this supplement the limp was gone. Not to mention the dogs love it. They go to where we keep it and wait on it every morning and anytime they hear us open a pill bottle, lol. Anyways, I was thinking perhaps this supplement was causing the stinky problem, but then again my female gets it too. Cai likes to get under my desk and lick my feet when I get on the pc, but man when he cuts one, it runs me OUT!!!! Here lately I keep a bottle of Fabreeze by me all the time. Anyone else run into this problem or have any suggestions?????? Thanks, Katrina

Chew toys can do this, too, especially edible junk like rawhide, pigs ears, cow hooves, etc. Check with your vet about that supplement to see if it's still indicated. It sounds like your dog may have had panosteitis, which is common in fast-growing large breeds. They outgrow it. If this was it, he probably doesn't need the supplement anymore and you can at least do a trial to see if it's the cause of the gas. But talk to your vet FIRST.

Hi there!
I am sorry I cannot help you with your gassy problem. But I wanted to comment on how beautiful your dog is! He reminds me of my own, only mine is a mix. But they share a lot of the same traits. Cookie is only 5 months old.

I know White Castle hamburgers will do it. It will make you leave your house.
Good Luck. Craig
