DO YOU REALLY AGREE WITH THE ANIMAL RIGHTS MOVEMENT

Let me begin by asking a simple question. Are you an animal lover or an animal rights extremist?

The following article will help you to answer this important question.

So what is the difference?

Lets examine a few of the most commonly held beliefs of animal lovers and compare them with the beliefs of the animal rights movement.

Animals as pets:

Most animal lovers will agree that their lives would not be complete without their favorite pet.Their true love for animals require that animals be near and present in their lives in the form of pets. Most pet owners are people just like you and me who love and care for their animal/animals just as one would for a human family member. Veterinarian medicine was and still is widely available to pet owners because of the known love and care that millions of pet owners worldwide give to their animals.
Pets are known to have many benefits to the young and old alike.

Pet ownership is significantly associated with better school
attendance rates. Results of scientific studies show that IgA levels amongst pet owners are significantly less variable than the normal range. In other words, their immune function is more stable, and indicates that children are better able to fend off illness.

Studies have linked family ownership of a pet with high self-esteem
in young children and greater cognitive development. In addition,
children with pets at home score significantly higher on empathy and
pro-social scales than non-pet owners. Children who suffer from autism have more prosocial behaviors if they own a pet.
Children owning pets are more likely to be involved in sports,
hobbies, and chores.
A five-year study of 600 children aged 3-18 years revealed that pet
owning children who are slow learners or whose parents have divorced
cope better with life than those who don’t have a pet.
A US study of 394 university students revealed that those who had
owned dogs or cats as childhood pets were more self-confident than
those who did not.

Many pet owners buy into the deception of the animal rights movement because of compassion. The animal rights movement has done a wonderful job of packaging itself to be cute and fuzzy. What animal lover would be against the humane treatment of animals? The Humane Society of the United States or HSUS, and P.E.T.A., which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, often play on the love and compassion of many animal lovers without revealing their true and darker agenda.
The agenda of the animal rights movement, though not well known, and often hidden behind the cute and fuzzy, is to outlaw the keeping of animals as pets. Don’t take my word for it, let them speak for themselves:

"I don’t use the word "pet." I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer "companion animal." For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance."
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA vice-president, quoted in The Harper's Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223.

"It is time we demand an end to the misguided and abusive concept of animal ownership. The first step on this long, but just, road would be ending the concept of pet ownership."
-Elliot Katz, President, In Defense of Animals, "In Defense of Animals," Spring 1997

"Liberating our language by eliminating the word 'pet' is the first step ... In an ideal society where all exploitation and oppression has been eliminated, it will be NJARA's policy to oppose the keeping of animals as 'pets.'"
-New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance, "Should Dogs Be Kept As Pets? NO!" Good Dog! February 1991, p.20

"As John Bryant has written in his book Fettered Kingdoms, they [pets] are like slaves, even if well-kept slaves."
-PETA's Statement on Companion Animals

"The bottom line is that people don't have the right to manipulate or to breed dogs and cats ... If people want toys they should buy inanimate objects. If they want companionship they should seek it with their own kind."
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, "Animals," May/June 1993

"You don't have to own squirrels and starlings to get enjoyment from them ... One day, we would like an end to pet shops and the breeding of animals. [Dogs] would pursue their natural lives in the wild ... they would have full lives, not wasting at home for someone to come home in the evening and pet them and then sit there and watch TV."
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, Chicago Daily Herald, March 1, 1990.

"Pet ownership is an abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, Washingtonian, August 1986

"One day we would like an end to pet shops and breeding animals [Dogs] would pursue their natural lives in the wild."
-Ingrid Newkirk, Chicago Daily Herald, March 1, 1990

Never mind the happiness and joy that true animal lovers have because of their pets. True animal rights don’t care about your feelings or desires, your happiness or well-being. All they care about is their agenda which is to take away the pets of even the pet owners that financially support them.

If you agree that we should not enjoy the many benifite of PET ownership. If you don’t care what closing down a multi billion dollar pet industry would do to our economy. If you don’t care how millions of vets that used to tend to your animals needs will support their families. If you don’t care that children are healthier and happier. If you would like to say goodbye to your beloved pet,
Then you are right for the animal rights movement.

You are not as much of an animal lover, as you are a human hater.
