Not too sure what's going on

Ok. My doggie Murphy is about 4 1/2 months old. I've had him since he was 9 weeks. He's never really been one for following directions. He HATES it when I try to clip his nails, put his harness on, or walk him on a leash. THere are MANY MANY other things that he HATES to do. And when he doesn't want to do something, he screams. LOUD. Sometimes so loudly I think that I'm going to go deaf, seriously. Recently, he's been real picky. If he doesn't want to be picked up, he'll scream. Its so sad to see my family try to enjoy him and he'll be running all around and happy and then someone will try to pick him up and he'll scream and snap at them. Is there any way to stop this? He's so stubborn about everything, I'm not sure what to do. Other than this he's a wonderful dog. He's so friendly and adorable. I'm just so afraid he's becoming a spoiled brat. HELP!!! THANKS!!!

Be sure to have him medically checked. Chihuahuas can very easily get hurt from being dropped or falling or jumping off furniture. It's highly possible the issue here is pain.

What should I say to the doctor?

Describe the behavior and the things the dog reacts to, so they look in those areas on his body for what might be wrong.

Like Diamond says, there may be some problem. I've never heard of a dog screaming when you pick him up.

If he gets an okay from the vet, you have to hand him to as many people as you can to socialize him, friends, relative etc. If you don't, he will remain snappy. Chis really need to be socialized by 5 months. After that, it can be very difficult if not near impossible where they will only let their owner pick them up and growl and snap at everyone else.

Bye, Chilidog
