unidentified red spot?

faerie822 Apr 19, 2005 08:04 PM

i was over at my parents house today, & found a bright red spot on their cocker spaniels rear end. shes my baby, but i dont live there anymore so i dont know how long its been there, & i dont think we can get her to the vet until the weekend, if i can even talk them into taking her. shes 11 years old, is already blind, has arthritis, we think shes going deaf...i worry about her. its bright red, it didnt look like an open wound or anything. anyway, any ideas?

thx

sorry you got no responce, it doesn't look good to me, at her age, but only the vet can say.

let us hear, Best wishes

lack of response is ok, i posted on the canine care board too. but really, the vet is the only way to find out. we finally got her in yesterday morning, & mom said they think its cancer, but we wont find out anything for sure until the results come back next week. i dont know what were going to do if its malignant, to tell you the truth. shes not in the best of shape, but shes the baby, so whatever is best for her...

more news when i get it

I'll keep you all in my prayers. There are certainly lots of better treatments available, so if it is malignant, there may be some good years left for you all.

its cancer, & its malignant. radiation isnt possible, surgery could be done but shed have to go to a specialist, & with my brother starting college next year money is tight. even with the surgery, the chances of it helping are slim. plus, she will probably end up being incontinent, because the cancer is so close to the vulva. the vet said she doesnt seem like shes in pain, & she seems to have a really high tolerance for pain considering her glaucoma & everything else she has. so basically, we all have to sit down & talk about what we can do for her now.

if you would do us a favor, pray, meditate, whatever you believe in, we could probably use it all.

thanks for everything, guys. weve got a long road ahead of us.
