PICS PLEASE??!!!

Does anyone have any pictures of fully grown rat snakes as I'd like an idea of how big my female will get.
Photos with some form of scale would be much appreciated(e.g holding snake in hand or alongside a ruler etc.)

Thanx in advance.

Kat.

I meant to write GREY rat snakes.

Adults are listed at 42-72 inches, with a record of 84 1/2. So figure on it getting potentially to 6 feet, maybe a little more. I posted a pic on the Field Notes forum the other day of a rat snake skin I found last month, just over 6 feet long. It might help give you an idea of the size (although the snake itself, which I haven't found, is probably not quite that long; the skin stretches slightly during shedding).

And it measured a perfect 84" (7 feet) in length! If you feed them well, you can grow rat snakes up to large sizes pretty quickly, though they don't seem to take as well to it as kingsnakes.

This is my rescued grey rat being held by my daughter. The snake is a bit on the thin side but the muscle tone is there and she has been eating one large mouse per week since I got her in June. She measures 5.5 feet.

Thanx for the pic Steve, it really helped.
How old is she?
(And how on earth do you determine whether a snake is thin?!!!!)

Thanx again.

Kat.
