they have been removed! He was neutered last Friday. He now has to wear a cone around his neck so he doesn't bite at the stitches. We've kind of stopped any training to stop his growling until next week when he should healed enough to not need the cone. I figure he's been through enough. He can't even scratch his head or ears when they itch. When I take the cone off he goes right for his stitches and I have to pull him back. I feed him with the cone off but just give him the bowl and sit next to him with a leash in case he decides to bite at his stitches. It's been kinda nice. Not really any growling since Friday. The first day I felt so sorry for him. He couldn't figure out how to climb steps or manuever through the house. The second day I was leading him from the back yard by his cone so he didn't hit anything. He saw a cat and bolted. Here I am feeling sorry for him and he runs after a cat and completely ignores me telling him "out" or "come". The cat made it to the woods and he had to stop. I caught up to him and was able to not throttle him. I did put him in the laundry room alone for awhile but not long. No aggression from either of us. Since then he's knocked over pictures and chipped off pieces of the wall at the corner. His cone hits everything! Anyway things have been kinda nice lately.
On a sad note my wife and oldest daughter went to an emergency vet this morning to put our cat down. This time last week she seemed fine. Saturday Susan noticed she was having trouble walking and this morning she peed on Alicia's bed and couldn't stand. We've had her since I deployed in Dec 95. We thought she was 11 but turns out she was more like 14. Last week my sister (lives in Michigan) had to put her Great Dane down. That dog was her kid, no if's and's or but's! My sister is about 5'2" and her Dane was every bit of 140 pounds but listened to my sister like she was her mom. To bad pets only live so long. Keep them in your prayers if you pray.
