Dog Attack

ashwee1080 May 03, 2005 06:23 PM

I was going on a walk with Buddy today, my 6 month old Chi, and this dog came out of no where and its owner didn't hold onto the leash tight enough and he ran after my dog.

Well, of course I'm trying to get my dog but he's running behind me and the other dog is running around me as well.

The dog bit my lil Buddy, but thankfully no skin was broken and he just yelped.

It was really scary though, and the owner was letting his 3 yr old grandson hold the leash as to why the dog got loose.

Was VERY scary, and both Buddy and I were freaked out.

Its been an hour or so, and Buddy is acting totally normal so no worries........

Just thought I would share to help warn others about the potentian dangers, just b/c you see a leash doesn't mean that other dog can't get your lil Chi.

They are so tiny........defenseless.

What a scary time that was! I am so happy that your Buddy was not seriously or emotionally hurt from this unfortunate encounter. It was very thoughtless of the owner of the other dog to have his 3yr old grandson holding the leash to an unpredicatable dog.

Your warning is very appropriate and should be heeded by all who reads it.

Oh wow... so glad your boy is okay.

Very scary!

Sounds like they could have benefitted from using two leashes, one so the grandson could walk the dog and another for the adult in case of an issue.

Thanks for posting, it is a good reminder.

Again, so glad you beautiful little boy is okay.

I had someone tell me it was okay for my leashed chi to go near his old lazy looking unleashed lab, well his lab went to bite my dog, then he said his dog may have been upset because he just came back from kayaking, well he should have said that instead of that his dog was friendly. I'll never make that mistake again. A week later I'm walking with my dog and another off leash dog is walking by, so I pick up my dog right away and the owner says it's okay, his dog is friendly, yeah right, then if the dog kills my dog, all I can say is they said their dog was friendly and I'm in court and getting $500 back for my dead dog and it's all my fault. Don't trust big dogs!!!!

General rule, even if a person says their big dog is friendly, don't let your dog near them. Be ready to pick your dog up immediately if someone in a park has their dog off-leash or that don't look like they have them under control even if they are leashed. I pick my dog up right away.

Bye, Chilidog

hey you know what that happened to me too, except the other dog wasnt on a leash.i think it was some sorta fierce dog that they let loose on the streets.i was walking along when suddenly this hairy white dog jumped on charlie (my 2y/o chihuahua) and started to bite him.i couldnt get him off my dog, so i had to lift charlie up using his leash, almost strangling him.

then it happened to our husky (dough)too.we were walking him when these 2 huge german sheperds started to attack him. dough, who is a very peaceful dog, didnt fight back and we had to stone the dogs before they finally left us alone. if it werent for dough, those dogs would have gone after my chihuahuas!so we complained to the people who owned those dogs and they havent bothered us since.

i just wanted to say, be careful when you see dogs out in the street.
