6 month old male - extremely, errr, excited

Chicos_Papi May 25, 2005 02:55 PM

I am the proud parent of Chico (my first dog in 30 years)! I did all the research I could before but now that he has been in our home for 2 weeks, I have several questions:

1) Several times I found little Chico with an erection. Size ratio compared to his body size is quite impressive (but thats a different story). He is there happily tending to it with no care in the world. Will he stop this? Is this normal? Will nuetering help to stop this? Should I interrupt him?
2) When I get home he is so excited. I've heard that I should ignore him for a little while (to help with separation anxiety) but I'm not sure if that is right. Any suggestion on that?

neutering will help, there was a similar problem with my dog's brother, but though it calmed most of the hormones down,he was still "fully functional"and went after his toys occasionally

I've never heard of ignoring them, but in my opinion, wouldn't that get them even more riled up trying to get your attention?it also sounds like it would hurt thier feelings, but I'm not an expert,my dogs are still training me
