Hi I am new here. Agality for Disabled People?

RuffersRule May 27, 2005 01:14 AM

Hello I was wondering if they offer Agality for people with Low Vison? I can't see as well as the normal sited person but I want to try Agality. Alos if there is no Agality for disabled people could you offer anything else that would better suit someone with a vision imparment. Thank you all.

I just checked out the AKC rules for agility and I'm not finding mention of disabilities of handlers for agiilty trials. The AKC obedience regulations statein Chapter 2 section 14:

Physically challenged handlers. Judges may modify specific requirements of these regulations so that physically challenged handlers may compete. Such handlers must be able to move around the ring without physical assistance or guidance. However, at the judge' instructions, someone may position a blind handler before, between, and after each exercise. Dogs handled by such handlers will be required to perform all parts of all exercises as described in these regulations and will be penalized for failure to perform any part of an exercise.

Obedience has worked out excellent provisions for disabilities, especially blindness.

HI I was doing a search this morning and ran across a website called www.nadac.com (North American Dog Agility Council) Listed on there site was this:

"The Veterans Division is open to any dog, age seven (7) or older, or any handler, age 60 or older, or any handler who has a certificate of disability. The dog’s age shall be determined by the dog’s actual birthday, or the closest date, as known."

Everyone was so nice in helping with my search. I was wondering if anyone heard of this councily? Thanks!!
