not too long ago,I found out my chi mix will herd chickens and geese,not just circle around them,but cut one out,chase it back into the pen,and keep the others from running off

we never taught her this,but my neibor(owner of said chickens and geese)likes haveing her over and watching this stunt

she's never met a herding dog,however,I've looked into how little difference there is between dogs and wolves,and even less difference between different kinds of dogs,I guess since humans domesticated dogs by using wolf behavior to thier interests and breeding in that and tameness,it's almost a wonder how different breeds typically have different behaviors,the genes for almost anything are there,expressed or not(make sense?)anyone else get unusual/out of charecter traits in thier dogs?anyone know of any articles on genetics and behavior?

who knows,maybe when we find the origin of chi's,we'll find they were originally prized guardians of extinct Mexican midget sheep

I love it! That is wonderful that your pup has the opportunity to express himself.

I bet many dogs would suprise their people if they just had the chance.

I have 5 mixed hounds & a Shiba, all hunting dogs & when they are all out in their large fenced yard, they get to racing/chasing & each has a different style, individually & in teams. It has to be seen, no words to explain. I is Bassett-like, another corgi & 3 italian grayhound types.

do you have pics of your pups anywhere?they sound cute,I don't know much about racing,so I don't really know much about styles....I used to have an old miniture poodle we found in a neiborhood,her owners left her,and she hung around the house for years,she was very old and her fur had grown over her eyes where she couldn't see very well,however the house stunk....she had hunted rabbits and sometimes drug them through the doggy door,she still had very strong hunting instincts while we had her and killed lizards

for some reason,many of my pets are oddballs,methinks I bring it out in them
