Cropping in New Jersey

pitpens Jun 20, 2005 02:11 PM

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a vet in NJ that has experience in cropping Dobermans ears. Anyone know of a good one? I could also drive over to PA, if someone there is good.

Also how much does the cropping cost est.?

Thanks for any advise.

Sophia Koster is a vet in NJ that does most of the cropping for the Doberman Show breeders in NJ, eastern PA, Delaware, NY, even Maryland.

Both of my Dobermans were cropped by her and they have beautiful crops.

How old is your puppy? The breeders of my Dobermans had their ears done at approx 7 weeks. 12 weeks would be the absolute latest I would even attempt it. After that, I'd leave the ears natural.

I'm not sure about exact cost - usually breeders get a break when they are having a whole litter done. I would expect to pay in the neighborhood of $300 for a good crop.

Thanks, I live real close to her. They said it's about $350.

Sophia does a beautiful job - you many not want to get the long show crop as it is more work. I show so the show crop is what my dogs have. You can ask for a modified show crop that will hopefully be a little easier to get to stand.

They look great. I think I’ll go with a smaller crop than yours. Thanks a lot; I'm going to use her.

Sophia does not know me personally so it would not help to mention my name. I would just let her know that you have heard that the show breeders in the area all use her because she does such nice work. Sophia is a Doberman breeder and has beautiful dogs with lovely ears!

Thanks again! Sergie has an appointment with her tomorrow. I will post some pictures later.
