Hi,
My 4 month old chi is on Innova Puppy and it's great...not sure about the Evo though. Innova is definitely one of the best brands so I don't think you can go too far wrong. Good luck!

He eats about 1/3 cup per day. The Evo seems like it has almost all the same ingredients except there's no grain. I will swtich him to that at 10 months, but for now I wanted an actual puppy formula.
Hi!
EVO is an excellent food. We feed raw in my home (even my geriatric Chi ate a commercial raw for her last two years) and have recently tried EVO. We really like it. We love how well all the kids do on raw so it is our first choice, with EVO for those times when we are on the road or too tired to hastle with raw.
In my opinion a good quality kibble is the way to go if raw is not for you (could be knowledge, experience, time, availability/cost that are factors). My recommendation to research kibbles is to use the Whole Dog Journal as a guide. Some that we've tried are Innova, California Natural, and Solid Gold, but these are not all there are.
I also think you have to find the right food for your dog(s). A dog may do well on a food but the coat could be just a bit shinnier, the teeth a little less buildup, etc... You, as your puppies care taker will know if it's not right, trust your instincts and common sense in this. Just remember to switch slowly between kibbles (a graduated 10 day switch for example).
Let me give a personal example of why I switched once... About 10 years ago my parents found Avoderm and switched their kids to it. As it worked so well for them I decided I wanted to try it with my girl (who was about 6 or 7 then) as she didn't have a full long hair coat. LaVie was always a healthy girl, very healthy, but her coat was not a full long hair coat for many years. She was kind of, in between a long hair and short hair - it was a healthy coat, nice and shiny, great skin, just not full. After I moved her to Avoderm her coat filled in and she became even more beautiful.
Here's a picture of LaVie when about 2.5 years old:
