Getting A New Great Dane - Need Advice

assie2071 Jun 26, 2005 12:57 PM

I may be getting a new great dane from a rescue. She is about 2 years old, but she is completely deaf. The rescue said she is learning sign commands and that they will help me with training, but I have never owned a deaf dog before. Does anyone have any helpfull advice?

I've heard there are some good resources online for training deaf dogs. I'd suggest taking full advantage of the training the rescue group is offering.

HI!

My neighbor has a deaf dane. Seems to have no troubles at all commuicating in anyway. Dog is a sweetie and a bonus, at least in her case NO Barking.

I looked up a couple of links for you to check out.

Thanks you guys.
Things are working out really well. We are both helping each other learn to communicate. The only I seem to have right now is getting her attention when she is out in the yard, but she seems to be picking up some clues from my other dog.
