milk in food

scameron83 Jun 29, 2005 03:40 PM

I have been putting milk in my 8 month and 5 month old danes food. They hog the food down when it's in there but when it is plain food they just kind of pick around at it. They do eat the plain food but it takes quite some time. Is putting milk in the food bad for any part of my growing puppies?

Possibly yes, possibly no. Best people to ask about this are your dogs' breeder and your veterinarian.

I will ask the vet tomorrow when I bring them in to get weighed. I looked at your website and read the "How could you?" and it was so sad. More people should make the point of a dog being a family member more clear.

Milk isn't really needed past weaning. It does add some calcium to the diet of a pup and excess calcium causes skeletal problems.
