Rapidly Losing Puppy Teeth

bean1 Jul 02, 2005 03:55 PM

Hello all! I have a JRT who is a little over 5 months old, and he is losing his puppy teeth, which I know is normal. What I am concerned about, however, is the fact that he has lost 4 teeth in the past 3 days! Is this normal?

This is my first JRT, and we love him to pieces, so I'm probably being paranoid. I tried to call the vet, but they're already closed for the weekend.

Any help would be much appreciated...

Hi,
Not sure about the timing for puppy teeth to fall out but I would assume that they start to come out when the others start to come in. Take a peek and see if you can see any new teeth coming in. Glad you're enjoying your new pup. What's his name? I'll bet he's a real cutie. Perhaps you can post a picture of him.

He is a cutie, that's for sure! His name is Roscoe, - I'm gonna try to figure out how to post a pic right now.

Thanks for the reassurance, btw...

Oh my goodness, Roscoe sure is a cutie. Perhaps you would like to join us every Thursday night at 10:00PM EDT to talk about Roscoe or just talk with the others in Small Dog Chat. We would love to have you join us.

That's right, just click on the link to Small Dog Chat that you'll see at the top of the page on Thursday. That will take you right into the chat room. We don't have any set topics so you never know what will be discussed but if you have a question, feel free to ask. Katie will be there. Hope to see you there.

Im sure that since this has been posted you have found your answer, but for anyone else with a similar problem, my puppy lost 3 teeth within 48 hours, and I was concerned. However, at this age they are chewing their toys (/furnature/shoest etc) and their teeth wiggle loose very easily. My pup tore one out so bad he was bleeding for quite some time, but after consulting the vet I learned that this is not all that uncommon. I hope all is well with your little boy!

Thanks for the advice. All is well now, and Mr. Roscoe has all of his "big boy teeth" . Duncan is a DOLL btw!!! He's got the same look in his eyes as my little man: "I'm cute, but WATCH out"!
