hello, im frequent to the site just not in this forum.
my boyfriend has a chowpei, or a chow sharpei cross.
she has the aggression of both breeds, and has gotten in her head that she has become the alpha (or thats how i see it)
recfently she has learned how to open doors and get outside. it ahs become such a problem that they ahve to lock the door even if they just hop out side for a moment to get something out of the car. when she gets out, its an udder nightmare to catch her. they live near a busy street so there is a high risk of her getting creamed by a car each time she runs out. she does not listen at all when outside off a leash, she goes where she pleases.
i'm conserned because i know how those dogs can go off on somebody and maul them.
the boyfriend is getting so sick of it, he is considering of getting a shock colar to zap her every time she gets out. the trouble is a shock colar ment for her size wont work on her, they have to go up to one ment for a much larger breed because the dog just doesnt react to the shock.
I myself dont think this is ethical but im having troubles making the boyfriend see. ive heard of them turning on their owners before and i jsut dont want them to make her into a dangerious fearfull dog.
i would apprciate anyadvice that would help
