Chinese Crested that pants?

Quidam Jul 09, 2005 10:45 AM

According to my research on my doggie, Chinese Cresteds are not supposed to pant. My little dog does. He's a powderpuff and I wondered if that made a difference with that specific trait. There are a few other things, like the floppy ears, that are specific to the Powder Puffs and I wondered if this trait might be another one. He didn't pant when I had him shaved, but now that he's grown out and it's getting hot (90s again) he's panting. And yet he has the acne so I know he has pores/sweat glands. He's a rescue dog so there is always the chance that he's a mixie, but I'm just curious. Anyone know anything about this? The Chinese Crested message board is pretty empty so I thought I'd try here too. Thanks!

I'd be glad that he can pant. That's one more way for his body to eliminate heat, and always a good ability. For the skin, I'd take him to a veterinary dermatology specialist.
