Well it was like all of a sudden, once she realized what we wanted out of her with the loose leash walking, she had no problems with it! It was like night and day when she started really getting it. I was working on it with her yesterday morning and we made it half way up the street (After turning in circles in front of the house for 10 minutes) and she was doing really good but I ran out of treats. So I went back home, chopped up a ton of cheese and other good stuff and headed back out. We made it ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BLOCK with her walking right next to me the whole way with her eyes fixed right on me! :-D I was SO proud of her! She didn't even stop to sniff a tree, or blink an eye when people walked by. She just wanted her cheese!! I think what made a big difference was doing it BEFORE we gave her breakfast. Actually, she didn't even get breakfast yesterday morning cause she ate so many treats.
Then later yesterday afternoon, we went to the pet store and she is usually the worst behaved around kids, but she is starting to get now that whenever we stand on the leash she has to lay down. So Jason was standing on her leash and a little girl approached her. She gave her a kiss and they sat for about 5 minutes while the little girl pet her and she just layed there calm and quiet, looking at Jason for treats.
Way to go Cookie!
Just thought I would share our little break through!
