I took my wolf dog, Claundyke, through basic obedience when he was about 6 months old. At that age, he had already started growling at people. It was the best thing I could have ever done. He didn't pass top of his class, but he did learn that people are not all bad. I even took him through advanced obedience and agility. At 10 years old, he is the best trained and behaved dog that I have (and I have several!). He still has his moments with strangers. He doesn't trust people until he gets to know them. When I am not around, he doesn't take to people at all. He would rather just be left alone. But when I am around, he is good. I have had him in parades and taken him to schools. He goes to work with me daily (I work at a Vet clinic). I show Boerboels and Claundyke travels the country with me. He stays in motels and with family and friends. Claundyke is great with other dogs, but he tries to show them he is the Alpha.

I think the more you do with a wolf dog, the better they are. I have Claundyke's full brother, Akiea. Akiea came to me at 6 years old, his owner passed away. Akiea didn't have the training and socializing that Claundyke did and there is a big difference. Akiea gets very nervous around people. Even people he has known awhile. I totally trust him with myself and close family, but I don't put him in the position where he might bite. He goes to the lake and for rides and walks, but never to Petsmart! Even though that is Claundyke's favorite place.

elvis is very well socialized. he like's everyone he meets. we talk to petsmart, tractor supply, a few restaraunts around our house allow dogs so we take him. he is 73 percent and looks very wolf like but is very well behaved. he is almost six months old and is litterbox trained. he sits, lays down, heals when walking and sits when you stop. not many people post on here more people have to be on here. lets hear about your dogs.
