Hey guys, It's us again. The people with the dogs trying to break the glass door. Ironically, two days after we began keeping them inside when we weren't home, an incident occured.
We are home for an hour at lunch and during this time we leave the back door open for the dogs to run in and out. That afternoon Angel began barking frantically and running back and forth trying to get our attention. Turns out the meter reader guy, instead of noticing there were dogs and knocking on the front door, broke through the faulty wooden gate in the back and walked on in the yard.
Somehow Angel ended up with a large cut on her face. I'm not sure if it happened when he broke the gate open or what. Anyway, the electric company was nice about it and sent him back out to apologize and fix the gate for us.
Ever since then however, Angel won't stop barking. If it thunders outside (this happened during a thunderstorm) she flips out and barks like crazy. If the neighbor shuts their door it sets her off, if we set a glass down on the table too loudly it sets her off. Not just little barking either, she gets real upset and runs around barking and howling as loud as she can.
It's been nearly two weeks since that happened and she has not lightened up on the barking at all. I yell at her when she does it and it seems to work some, but I am worried that she does it for attention sometime. I know the incident was very upsetting for her and I am so glad we weren't leaving them outside when it happened.
Is there a good way to get her to realize that simple noises like a cup being set on the table are okay or a door being shut outside are okay?
