quick survey

snakeman5124 Oct 09, 2003 04:51 PM

hey everyone,
I was talking to this guy who works at my local zoo's reptile house and he asked if I was allergic to cats. well I said yes but I thought this was wierd until he explained to me that every reptile handler at the zoo was allergic to cats! well I figured I would see if this was just a fluke or if most people who like reptiles are allergic to cats so I am having my survey. Please respond to this post and just say wether you are or aren't allergic to cats. thanks

JK

The electric kitty boxes!

I put two in my house and no more stinky! they cost an arm and a leg - but is it worth $100 to you to no pick up poop every day? I think so.

Amazon has them @ 50% off usually!

it is not worth HAVING a litter box to have a cat.......target usually has those for about 90.........we thought about it, but then solved the whole problem by getting rid of the cats.......

I have been allergic to cats since I was 10. We had this one cat while I was a baby, and at age 10 I turned deathly allergic to cats. Well, not deathly....but when I have an attack, I feel like death!

Funny thing though, I have recently became allergic to our chameleons. Jade, our new little girl, has climbed me before and nothing ever happened. Now when she walks on me, she makes a little rash every places she grabs onto. She been on other people and nothing has ever happened.

Can you be allergic to chemeleons?

Well I have been allergic to cats since I was born. Mosst cats are not too bad but siamese ones make my athsma go nuts and I do my impression of a blowfish. as far as being allergic to chams I wouldn't say it's impossible, I still believe I am mildy allergic to frogs!lol

I'm alergic to cats! I even took alergy shots, helped my dog alergies, and pollen and dust some, but still very alergic to cats! Wow, that is so weired about the guys at the zoo!

not only that it happens with my bird too. And any other pinchy thing that presses on my skin or slightly scrapes it. I went to a doctor and was told it is a food allergy that is the culprit then when something abrades your skin it will welt up but it is the food allergy that is the underlying cause and to find what food it is takes much expensive testing. A dctor can give you an allergy pill to help reduce your skin reactions.
I think it is from wheat products with me because my reactions reduce when I stay away from breads and such.

When Sanchoz our veild crawls on my skin it does the little itch red bumps thing too. I'm not allergic to anyhing cept bees soo I'm not sure why this happens. Myabe they have something on thier claws that makes an irratent (sp?) to our humanly skin?

This only happens to me and not my bf so he thinks that theroy is nuts..but when you get scratched by a cat it has the same effect. Cat scratch fever... hmmm weird

I don't know if I am allergic, but if they are undercooked, it causes me quite a belly-ache

I AM allergic to cats (and dogs).
I also own both cats and a dog.
I take reactine to get around the stuffy nose, and I don't feel that allergies or the litter box are reason enough to not have a cat in my life.
I LOVE my kitties!!!!

I get those red raised areas from Zoe as well if he scratches me...but I also get a huge red hive if I rub my cats nose on my arm even. I guess I'm just an allergic person.
