Plants

Vargas Oct 09, 2003 05:16 PM

Hi,
I am rearranging one of my enclosures for my Argentine BW. I haven't looked into getting Argentine Pampa's plant yet but wonderered if anyone has any other good/safe suggestions for plants that would be suitable for ABW Tegu. I use a potting soil and washed children's playsand mix. Of course the plants have to be able to with stand brutal daily escavation..lol
Thanks Steve

Hey Steve,

I don't think real plants will work too well at all. I wanted to do the same thing, but it requires a lot of special accomadation on your part that's just not worth it. You'll have to use a substrate that plants can grow in, you'll have to water them on a daily basis, and of course the tegu will probably just destroy them anyway. What I've done in my cage is some very nice cool tropical silk plants, and I've used real epiphytes (bromeliads) on top of logs and in places the tegu can't get to, it looks great. I'll include a link for the picture.
