My Two loving Yorkies

brandilee Sep 05, 2005 05:12 PM

I am a proud mom of two beautiful yorkies. Cody the oldest is 9 years old and Brandi is 9 months. They play wondeful together.
The pup Brandi is spayed and cody is neuterd. Cody seems to be acting younger playing with Brandi. Before Brandi came into our family is was just a vey quiet senior yorkie. Now he acts like Brandi young and full of spunk. IS THIS NORMAL FOR SENIOR DOG TO RACT NICELY WITH A PUPPY.He watches what she does and puts her in her place if he feels she will get hurt or in trouble.
I personally feel this is great that a senior and a puppy can get along so well/ Maybe because Cody is a male and Brandi is a female/. cody tends to let females control him.

An older male who has a younger female come to live with him is usually pleased to have her and they tend to do well. It's unfortunate that people are seldom told about the huge difference to the dogs and the humans in a household between adding another dog of the same sex and adding another dog of the opposite sex. With opposite sex, he becomes top male and she becomes top female. If both are spayed/neutered and you don't ask them to share food or chew toys, chances are they will do great together.
