Getting old

JaimeMarie Sep 29, 2005 04:55 PM

Mya fell down the stairs today. I wasn't home bf's mom told me. I asked if she cried out or anything she said that Mya didn't. When I got home I let her in from outside and she was running around like a crazy lady. So I think she is fine. No limping or anything. I guess she was just stiff from laying around all day. I don't like her getting old.

I always hate the thoughts of my dogs growing older as well..especially since they were grown when I got them. Glad to see Mya had no injuries.

It's tough watching them get old. Glad to hear she's ok from the fall. Give her a big scratch and a big hug as well. Have you tried any of the glucosamine suppliments- they have helped my "old lady" quite a bit- especially in teh winter months.

Yes she takes supplements per vet order. Seems to help some. I don't know what was up that day. All weekend she has been acting like a 2 yr old LOL.

Mya says thank you for the kind words. She also yelled at me. Said she isn't old just getting mature.

awww poor Mya - I know this is probably harder on you than on her.

I've never known really, if its best to keep them going up/down stairs or to avoid them???

If it was me, I'd try to avoid them or put a *biiigggg* cushion for her royal hiney to land on.

You didn't say if this was in or outside? Maybe a ramp would help?

it was inside. We live in a raised Ranch. So she pretty much has to go up and down the stairs. Our bedroom is in the basement and everything else is upstairs. When she is outside I usually follow her up the stairs so she doesn't fall.
Maybe if we move I'll have to our bedroom on the main/first floor so she won't have to go up stairs.
