Adopted pup

kingofspades Sep 30, 2005 01:41 AM

So we were spouting out names, and I said "Stitch" and she looked at me. I said it again, and she jumped in my lap, and licked me.
She went into the kitchen, and I yelled "Stitch!" and she came running. That is her name.

Any ideas as to what she is? She loves to explore, has STRONG back legs, and is relatively small. (25ish lbs)

This pic makes her look like a pit mix, but I assure you she isn't. The pounds put "terrier mix" on her paperwork.
I don't think so. I think she is some sort of hound mix. Beagle maybe...
She likes to run.

There's boxer in her, but what else is hard to tell. She's cute though! SOunds like you found a great partner with Stitch!

She sure is a cutie and I just LOVE the name! I agree with Chelle on the boxer. I can't tell what else she might be. How old is she?

Dogs come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.

The warden said 2, but I doubt it. She acts like a puppy bigtime.
Then again, that doesn't mean she is one.

It's only been 2 days and she is ATTACHED to me. She follows me EVERYWHERE I go.
While I was asleep today, she didn't leave my side. (I work 3rd shift at an Inn, so she comes with me. My boss is cool with it)

Stitch is a great looking dog! Could be a boxer/beagle mix..my first thoughts were a Staffordshire terrier mix but since you ruled that out I'll go with the boxer/beagle. It's nice see a pup in a new forever home!

I'm seeing JRT and boxer.. That would make sense with her size too, the JRT would make her a lot smaller than the average boxer.. Mine is definitely a GSD/Corgi mix, and he's only 30lbs. despite the GSD.. She is absolutely adorable though! She's beautiful. I love boxers but they're bigger than what I can deal with at the moment - a boxer in her size is perfect

Jack Russel Terrier/boxer is a very good possibility...
but I am still leaning more towards beagle due to behavior.
The dog warden did put "terrier mix" on her papers, so...

One thing is for sure, she is boxer.
The protectivness over me (after only 2 days), the back legs (STRONG), the stance, the flatulence, and the cropped tail.

she is lovely - you are both lucky to have found one another...

I am leaning toward maybe Rat Terrier, most know about the mini sizes, but they do come in standard & even 'giant' & in wide variety of colers (sp?) and with tipped ears.

Basenji is another that could be in the mix?

I know I've always been on the look out for litter-mates of my unusual mixes that are very much Italian Greyhound (also red/white) & ? I did rescue 1 at 3 mos, then amazingly found the other (drove 16hrs to get her)at 9 mos. The 2nd had been in the same small town/got adopted/they moved/didn't work out - happy ending.

(sorry for the long side-trip, just thinking that you might look for Stitch's (great name!) relatives)

I see pit or maybe some sort of staff or american bulldog, that would account for strenght, boxers aren't typically a protective breed acually have been bred to be more social and outgoing, not to say the other breeds I listed aren't(social & outgoing), also staffies are known for their loyalty and love for their master.
also you can have the tail of ANY dog cropped as long as you have a willing vet.
