For some time now I have been meaning to post this.

PHOTO TIPS

In these short paragraphs I will explain every thing that I find useful in taking pics of leopards and AfT's. I will go over everything from cameras to your specimen. After reading this you should know how to take great photos of your favorite geckos.

Camera

Your camera is one of the most, if not the most, needed thing in photography. One of todays biggest trends for photos is digital cameras. in most senses, they don't get the true beauty of the animal that you are trying to photograph. If you are looking to buy a new camera, one, it will probably be digital, two, you need to look at a few things before you go and buy a $250 piece of garbage. One of the things that you need to look at is the amount of memory, how much is there, is there enough to take 1 or 100 photos. another thing you need to look at is the amount of mega-pixels. if i am not mistaking the current highest is 6, but that is an insane amount and you probably won't need or want to pay that much. The higher the number the better, i would go with at least 2.5 or so.

Specimens

Another thing to get a good photo is your specimen, you could have an awsome looking gecko turn to a very poor looking import. One tip I have found to work, keep leopards on white, no other color for two weeks. With the normal hot spot of 90 degrees, and feed a little more. Before I forget, don't hold them. For AFT's I have found keeping them on mulch or coconut husk makes their orange and brown colors lighten and brighten up. By doing this I have found that the geckos are prettier and are healthier, which is always good.

Set

When taking photos make a set, it could be as simple as a shirt draped over a box, or black fabric and a box or other object with at least 2 walls. 4 walls work better. then stapel or pin the fabric to the box. you can get the some effect a different way, your local Wal-Mart should carry this 1/4 inch foam board. you just cut 4 walls from the sides and spray paint it black, and let it dry for days before letting your beloved little family members, your leopards or AFT's, near it. Also take the photo outdoors or with a UV bulb from above.

I have put this information together by PERSONAL experiences. It should work for most people. Whatever you do, please don't steal this and say that it is your own. just ask permission before posting it again.
