How long to wait to let my Dobe play and run after eating

KerrsBabies Oct 11, 2005 01:58 PM

Hi Everyone.

How long do you guys wait generally after your Dobe eats his food to let him out to run around and relieve himself/herself?

I usually wait about 15-20 ... but have heard it can cause major stomach issues if they go out and run around right after.

And believe me he runs like a race horse in my backyard

Thank you in advance!!
Sir Kyzer

I don't know alot about Dobes, but like greyhounds, I think they can get bloat. I'd wait at least an hour. I do with my greys....but then I'm a worrier. <G>

I think the standard advice is an hour. I feed my dogs four little meals a day, so they get to romp when ready! But you sure don't want to do that on a really full stomach. One reason I feed those little meals is that need and opportunity for practice and work with dogs who do what they do arise without warning. I prefer that they be "Ever-Ready!"
