I have read similar posts that have dealt with this so I will now share my first experience.

Yesterday I was walking my 6 month old doberman Tiara in the park. We were exiting the park and walking along side the road to get home. Tiara was healing beside me, as I ask her to do on this part of our journey.

As we were coming to the intersection a pickup truck drove past and the passenger leaned out and started barking and growling at Tiara. I saw him turn and laugh with the driver.

I was laughing in my mind, “Yea right! If you knew my dog that would be the last thing you would think about her! She is more a quivering bundle of nerves!”

I was kind of struck off-guard at first, this ugly pig was squealing out his window and it was quite ridiculous. It seemed he was doing this because she is a dobe, but maybe he does this to all dogs?

When I caught up to the pickup truck at the stop sign, he started barking at her again! I was not amused and just shook my head. Tiara was looking at me and back at the guy, getting confused and nervous. She didn’t start barking at him, and she has never barked at a person on our walks. I finally told the guy to shut up as they turned.

Well, that is the worst thing that has happened on our walks, most of the time I get complemented on her.

Read the "Attention, Please!" and Eye Contact articles at the link below my signature. Teach your dog this truly enjoyable exercise. Then when a moron tries to provoke or torment her in this way, you and she can show that lowlife how it's done! You will be able to totally prevent these idiots from doing damage to your dog's temperament--either by making her more timid or aggressive--and enhance your control in every other way, too. Have fun! I love doing this with my assistance dog. It sure takes the wind out of the sails of the morons in the world, too.

What an odd thing for a person to do. Thankfully he didn't do anything else, but that's just strange. I wonder about this world sometimes. Some people just don't have a clue.

Dear dog,
I can not buy anything larger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think that I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to your fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straigt out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing more than doggy sarcasm.

Tiara is absolutely beautiful--and that guy was completely ignorant. Often, dogs are much better behaved than humans are!

Thanks all for the replies!

Yea, some people are rude. I’m glad my dog didn’t give him what he wanted—a big barking reaction. Now I know to use the “watch me” command. We learned it in Obedience 1, and Kathy’s articles were very informative!

Now I’m going to practice...

Thanks!

I have had that happen to me before. Luckly Mya ignores the people.
It's usually teenage boys. Mya isn't a doberman.
