Well I finally found something about the man in the training show that was on tv.. His name is Adam Stone and I am thoroughly impressed with this guy. He's amazingly in tune to these dogs and his methods encourage active training (vs. passive, where the solution is to avoid problem situations in the first place). I have developed a serious distaste for the passive method and would much rather actively try to change Kaiser's thinking than avoid problems all together. I'm a psychology major and more than ever, particularly after today I believe that people can change, and dogs can change too if you can find a way to tell them what they're doing wrong.
I bought a copy of his training video, called "Temperamental" and of all the things we've tried, his methods seem absolutely designed for Kaiser. It turns out that he lives only about 1.5 hours from my parents' house, so we may see if we can visit one day. He's been more or less working with aggressive dogs all of his life. His life story is fascinating. If anyone is interested you can find info about him and his methods at www.puppywishes.com.
I was doing some research and discovered that there are 3 specific people or groups of people actively working against him, claiming that he abused and neglected their dogs while they were in his care. After some more research however nothing that these women are saying is credible and there is a lot of evidence disproving their claims, so I'm extremely skeptical. I would never send my dog to live with a stranger anyway. I think if anything went wrong it definitely started with these people. And either way, his methods are fantastic and are already doing wonders for Kaiser's temperament..
Things are looking up and we now have a detailed step-by-step guide to Kaiser's complete rehabilitation. There is hope again after all..
