i was just wondering.. if i ever took my dog on vacation and my cat or i moved across country..

does anyone trust the fact that your dog or cat is thrown in with the luggage? or do they do something else?

I've had one dog shipped by plane. She was coming to me on what was to be a 1 1/2 hour direct flight. The airline put her on the wrong plane and she wound up enroute for 8-9 hours. Thank God they did find her, and American Airlines rescued her and brought her in safely. I promised her she would never fly again. She was stressed by a crate the rest of her life, too. That night she had 3 take-offs and 3 landings in jets, at 7 mos. of age.

Things do happen on planes. The night I was waiting for my dog to be located and sent to me, a very concerned customer service lady from American checked with me repeatedly--and the next day to make sure the dog was okay. She said she was being relocated in her job and had the option of having all her stuff including her car and animals flown to the new place. She was instead opting to drive cross country so her pets would not have to fly. Nuff said!
