New Here...10 week old feeding Azmira...couple ?'s

Cannabicus Nov 14, 2005 02:46 PM

Hello well this is my first post here... I have had my 10 week old male blue dobe for 3 weeks now and he is around the 20 pound mark. I have been feeding him Azmira dry food. Well i have been giving him 2 cups of food - one in the morning when we wake and one more after my family eats dinner in the evening. The bag says between 1 - 2 cups for dogs 20 - 50 pounds, My question is that he eats this cup of food really quickly and then acts as if he is still VERY hungry and wanting MORE food after both feedings, but the bag says specifacally NOT to overfeed him this food. His stool is not hard nor is it not runny. Should I be giving hime MORE or just let him get what he is supposed to get and nothing more? Thanks for any and all the help you can give us!

You need your vet's help with this question, to examine the dog and determine the weight and condition. Also check with the company and get the calorie count on the food. That will help your vet help you.

Welcome!!!! I really don't know the answer to your question, but if you speak with your vet at your next shot appointment, you will probably get some great advice. I know dogs go through growth spurts and are good at regulating themselves on the amounts they need, but other dogs are not able to do that safely.

Please do post those pictures. I don't believe I've ever seen a blue dobe before. I'm sure he's incredibly cute and a great companion.

Dear dog,
I can not buy anything larger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think that I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to your fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straigt out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing more than doggy sarcasm.

A 10 week old puppy of ANY breed should be fed more often than twice a day! I have a 6 month old dobe puppy now-she was fed three times a day until she was about 5 months old.

I'm not familiar with the brand you mentioned, but generally the feeding recommendations printed on the bags are for adult dogs..puppies tend to need to eat a lot more, then their caloric need decreases as they mature.

I'd agree with the others..ask your vet if your puppy is a good weight. But for heaven's sake-feed that little pup more often!
