Barking drives me nuts

lastleg Nov 14, 2005 05:44 PM

Unfortunately I purchased a home next door to a barking beagle that is out of control. For some reason, whenever the dog is outside, it barks continusly. Spoke with the neighbors but they aren't helping.

I'm sure that the dog is probably barking out of bordom. They never walk the think. Just put it in the backyard and call that exercise.

Any suggestions are welcomed. A friend suggested (in jest) I should adopt a Pit Bull to help "manage" the situation.

Talk to the neighbors one more time and nicely tell them you are sorry, but if the noise problem is not abated, you are going to have to notify the authorities. Then if it's not fixed, follow through. You'll be doing the dog a favor, especially if other people can hear, because this kind of thing brings out the insanity in people. If there is anyone around who is mentally unbalanced, they might hurt or kill this dog.

Oh I'm terribly sorry your neighbors are so inconsiderate.

Do you take daily walks? If so, maybe you could offer to take this dog with you. Walking a dog is incredibly fun and tends to get me into areas I've never walked before. I've seen some wonderful wildlife due to my long walks with my dogs.

Beyond that, maybe a further discussion with the neighbors with the city noise codes would be in order. It's not my first choice, but really, they need to be more considerate and deal with their bored dog.

Dear dog,
I can not buy anything larger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think that I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to your fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straigt out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing more than doggy sarcasm.

What a great idea--to offer to walk the dog. Beagles are very vocal in general. (I used to have a beagle nick-named "woofer." But the neighbors really should keep their dog inside if it's barking a lot.
