Recently we fell into parenting a German Shepard, we love her to death, her name is Zayna. We have had her for two months, and we definatly want to be her forver home. She is two years old. I am also posting her picture here.

We have never had a german shepard before, we have two other dogs at the moment a pomeranian, and a husky. She is doing well with those two, and with the other members of our family, though she thinks that the ferrets are her play things, so we keep them seperated, and they have seperate play times.

She is fine with us, but is awefully people/other dog shy/scared. And though, she was supposed to be the family dog, she has picked me as her person, I think its coz when we went to go pick her up, I was the one that held her when she was freaking out about the car ride and such . . . She listens to basic commands from me, like sit, and go get it(while we are playing fetch) drop it ect . . . . Stay and heel ect not so much, and not so much from any one else . . .

Has any one got any ideas on how to help her over come her shyness?

Sorry this is so long

what a beautiful girl! My female attached herself to me when we first got her at 8wks and only recently (last 3months) she's started listening to my husband. sometimes though she completly ignores me and sits by my husband. I think it just depends on the day. Not sure what kind of trauma yours went though but as far as the shyness goes, you can try walking her with treats in your pockets and ask random people if they wouldn't mind giving her one and petting her for a few minutes. Mine was never an attention hog from outsiders, but this trick seems to be getting her to let others pet her. Just a thought.
