Hi all,
One of our 2 year old springer spaniel Dixie started seizing a couple of weeks ago starting with face twitching and now full-on seizures. After the first grand-mal seizure, we immediately took her to the vet and they drew blood for a total body panel. All other enzymes were normal except for AST. I read that exercising before having this checked will elevate the AST readings. Since it was drawn within 30 minutes of her episode, could this be why it's slightly higher than normal? She is now on Phenobarbs and no seizures since. Problem is now if we get re-tested, the Pb's will cause elevated AST readings so we may never know if it's liver disease or simply epilepsy. Has anyone had any experience with this? This is all very frightening to us. Thank you,
Alex and Crystal
