That is a really cool and unique picture. Too bad it isn't sharper or I might have used it as my desktop wallpaper.

Oh, wow. From your handle, and your snake's name, and the really totally cool temple of Hathor, I gather you're a myth-o-phile like me. So where'd you get that setup? I'd love to put one in with one of my baby girls.

Also -- nice to see someone bothering to read up on snake mythology!

Believe it or not the temple and the mini Horus' came from the PETCO aquarium department... I about messed myself when I saw them as I am very interested in mythology as you suggested. The temple was only $25.00 and the Horus' were only $2.99 a piece. They also had some ancient greek columns which I'll get when I finally find a Longissima to do the Aesculapian myth thing with. The pic is actually a still from a video as we've had a hell of a time photographing her and getting anything but white smudges (one day we'll go digital but for now it's film). As you seem to be interested in snake mythology do you know of any bullsnake myths per chance? I'm doing a talk next May on Sacred serpents and would love to be able to present the Pituophis breed as specifically worthy of reverent note (not that I don't revere them anyway but a story is always nice.) Thanks.

Well, my main area of mythology is old-world (Ireland, the ancient near middle-east, and Egypt), but I recall reading one myth about bullsnakes specifically.

This is the link, but when I first read it it was on a different site.

There is supposedly a myth or article called "Coyote and Bullsnake," which I have seen reference to, by Paul V. Kroskritry, but I can't find it.

I hope this is some help. I found the story quite interesting, and wonder where it came from.

Anyway, email me at redbranch@hotmail.com, and we can talk myth without weirding out everyone. I'd like to hear from you. My current collection, BTW, is below, not counting my first snake, Tiamat - appropriately enough - who was a bullsnake, and, not coincidentally, the best snake in the world. She died of pancreatic cancer in '00.
