Hi,
Sometimes the best way to get a board active is to just bring up a subject that you think other Dachshund folks would be interested in discussing. Another good way to get things going is to share some of the fun things your doxie might do..no matter how silly it may seem. Chances are pretty good that if your dog did a silly thing, someone else's dog may have done the same thing or something more silly. I hope it works for you.

I don't have a Doxie, I have Shiba Inus, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to learn more about them. What is the name of your Doxie? Is he/she a long or short hair? I think they are really interesting dogs. Maybe when you can you can post a picture or two.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

Hi!

One of our dogs is a four year old mini red doxie. Her name is Candy and she is just the best! My dad has let her get a bit tubby, but she's a doll. Loves to cuddle and is so sweet! My dad would never let a dog sleep with them before, but Candy sleeps right between them now. It is so funny how spoiled she is!

I too do not have dachshunds, but I do like the breed. I just recently went to a dachshund specialty dog show and got to see 40 of them all in one place. Although i knew they came in different coat varieties, I had not known much beyond that. They are very nice little dogs and I can see why people love them so much.

Tell us more about your doxie?

Dear dog,
I can not buy anything larger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think that I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to your fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straigt out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing more than doggy sarcasm.

What fun! I'd love to go to a dog show someday, but I've never heard of one around me. Just think, seeing 40 dogs of the same breed! That would be pure heaven.

Minuet, If you search the AKC website (www.akc.gov) and navigate through (which I'll admit is not the easiest thing to find information on), if you go to the "events" page you can search for shows by state. I'll bet there are more around than you think.
