My beardie wont settle down!!!

coder1188 Oct 09, 2003 07:34 PM

I have had my first bearded dragon for about four months from when he was a hatchling. He just wont settle down and let me hold him. No matter how slow or gentle I am he still squirms and tries to get away. I have been holding him constanly like the shop owner said... I just need some help finding what is wrong with him or how i can keep him calm... Thanks much!

he may just be curious as to what else besides your hand there is to explore outside of his cage. i let mine run around the room for a while to let him check stuff out. after a few times out and running around he seemed to calm down a bit when i took him out. he still wants to run around some times, but most of the time he is content to hang out with me on the recliner.

Try getting him out of his cage right before his lights go out at night. He should be good and tired by then. Sit down on the couch and watch a little TV with him on your chest. Turn the lights down or you can even cup your hand over him so he thinks he is hiding from you. If he is still trying to get away, just cover him with a small towel and he should settle right down. Do that for a few nights straight then skip a day or two and try it again. He should get to the point of getting sleepy if you pick him up during the day...lol...
Good Luck and let us know...
Steve
