Temperature charting

How many rely on temperature drop to signal whelping within 12-24 hours?

I decided to start tracking my girl's temps NOW (day 48) to get a good baseline morning/night temp. Her temps seem unusually low though (maybe normal for her). Last night at 10 PM was 100.0; this morning at 10 AM 99.6. I suppose if I get very similar temps over the next several days I'll know she just runs low. I was just surprised she's not more in the 100-101 range. Hm.

She's still active, eating well, and glowing with good health. I'd just like to hear others' experiences with temping. Thanks!

A temp around 100 is normal in the third trimester. 99.6 is a little low, but still a normal variation. I don't get excited until it's below 99.5/ Of course, every dog is different.

It can help if you take the temp after your dog has been at a normal to moderately active activity level. If you take it after they have been sleeping, it can be misleadingly low.
