Pheramones for stress releif??

Becco Mar 09, 2006 10:08 PM

So my puppy suffers from what I'm pretty sure is seperation anxiety. If he can't get to me he starts crying, even if its just because I'm on the other side of a babygate, showercurtain, or just past the end of his tie-out.

Soooo, getting to the point I was at one of the pet stores here in town and they had an item, it looks a lot like an air freshener, that is supposed to release Dog Appeasing Pheramones to reduce stress and anxious behaviors

has anyone tried one? do they work?

The word is that sometimes they do help. Make sure you don't go to your dog when he makes noise. That causes the dog to do it more often. Stay away until he is quiet.

We try to stay away... If he is crying in the morning we say "quiet" and dont let him out of his kennel until he is...He is usually kenneled/crated at night and when we are gone during the day but rarely more than 4 hours a time (except at night, he sleeps through).

However lately he has taken to whining for no reason, like he wants attention but he will sit across the room and whine instead of coming to us
