california legless lizards

I wanted to know about them and I want to get some

well Ive never kept them but heres some info I found in some books
scientific name:anniella pulchra
range:baja california to california
length:10 inches
habitat in wild:locally common in sand dunes bordering the beaches of the california coast
habitat in captivityrefers loose,moist,sandy soil.rarly if ever bask.
cage:desert with several inches of semi-moist sand as flooring material.
temperature:70-80 degrees farenhight
food and water:eats small insects in the wild and in captivity.supply a small shallow dish for drinking water.

According to this State of California website, the california legless lizard is listed as a "species of special concern".

I'm not sure what that means legally, other than the species is considered threatened to some extent. You might need a permit to collect one.
